pollingWhen you look across the sea of faces in your classes, do you think you can accurately assess if students are comprehending the content? Certainly there are some clues that students are understanding or struggling, but often you are left guessing.

Technology, via classroom communication systems, provides you a means to create a more interactive, student-centered classroom. This fall, the FIC purchased a wireless classroom performance system called the Classroom Performance System (CPS) (www.einstruction.com) that is available for use in your classes.

You will want to take a look at the CPS devices if you’ve had these kinds of thoughts:

  • What can I do to make my classes more interactive?
  • How can I engage students in a review (you know, to warm up their brains) before I cover a topic?
  • How can I have a real-time class-wide display of student responses?
  • What is available to help me gather information from my students?
  • What instructional tools are available to help me effectively divide students into small groups?

The FIC has 64 student devices available for your use. All that you’ll need is a computer with the CPS software and a projector.

Please join us for an introductory hands-on session in the FIC Studio on October 22 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. We’ll show you the basics and you can munch on doughnuts, too.
