Jon Olson PDF Print E-mail
The first time Dr. Jon Olson in Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering taught a distance education class, it was three years ago. Things have changed. This spring, he is co-teaching with Dr. William Van Rensberg, and in addition to using the College's distance education classroom, he is using Prometheus. By using Prometheus, he can easily keep students informed (with the Gradebook, posted lectures, and files) and as well as communicate with his TA. Although he believes that he invested roughly "half again as much time" as he does with traditional class preparations, he believes "it was worth the effort." Dr. Olson's time investment was intense because of the quality materials he created - from extensive PowerPoint presentations to locating web links and resources for students. The materials can be reused semester after semester.
